Like in many other books, the first chapter states the principal problem of “Sense and Sensibility”. It mentions that the inheritor of Norland State, Mr. Henry Dashwood, father of Elinor and Marianne Dashwood, died by natural causes. So that, he left her two daughters and wife completely unprotected and vulnerable in economic issues. I consider that an important fact to highlight is that in early years of nineteenth century, women were incapable to possess either own money or properties by themselves.
